Watch Me: teenie boppering The 5th Wave

Source

Out of curiosity, and being a weirdly loyal fan of Chloe Moretz, I tried watching one of her latest sci-fi themed movie entitled The 5th Wave directed by J.Blakeson from the same titled book written by Rick Yancey.

HIT ME

Life was pretty much normal for Cassie Sullivans world, until a mysterious large hovering space craft the size of a continent became the dead ringer start of events unfolding into an apocalyptic battle between man and the alien race named as the Others.

CONE CLUDE

Believe me when I say this movie may have, like all the other nice movies out there, a good and curious universe that can very well establish a footing fit for a nice theatrical prowess, it is not unavoidably subject under a mainstream over used theme. Such as this very element of aliens being able to infest inside a human like a parasite, rendering their host under their very control, a.k.a. that Stephanie Meyer book the Host with the almost same type of alien.

This however is not the selling point of this movie, but the depicted experiences of Cassie and their eventual events into a future unknown under the invasion of the Others. Which to my opinion is pretty well composed, in terms of the flow of events fairly edited from the book into a feature film.

Might as very well clarify that it was very evident that the movie is a stepping stone opening for a long ass story, it's open ended conclusion after they saved Cassies sibling simply says "I'm supposed to have a continuation".

I've barely any knowledge of the book and how it's characters, events, and style of writing is unfurled. Basing from the movie, there are heavily built ex-machina scenarios edited from the original, and possibly characters intentionally omitted. Though, I am not a very critical person, and that to I simply enjoyed the flow. Disregarding the obvious romance tension happening between select characters, the action and adventure elements seems a good 8 out of 10 grade.

Simply put, this might be a B grade movie even to it's reader fan base. But I wouldn't mind seeing the sequel happen even if the movie itself isn't compelling, just out of curiosity on what will be happening next into the lives of the characters.

Over-all it might be better to just follow the books, own them and read to your hearts content; and treat the movie like a large fan base advertisement for it.

Watch Me: How to Be Single and not just the statement

Source
These days, it's promising to encounter stories that just blatantly tells an absurd realistic connection between relationships. As a filipino, I always encountered cheesy romances that can simply touch and make you laugh by the local bunch. But nothing compared to the blatant liberated passion of a story that needed to just tell you everything is gonna be fine after a long ride. Like all feel good movies, How to Be Single by Christian Ditter, is a good reminder nothings wrong for a certain type of stereotype called being Single.

HIT ME

Story revolves around the friends Alice, Meg, Robin, and a fourth girl, entirely does not interact with any of the three girls but connected only through one character, named Lucy. Below lists all the nicest poking moments flowing for the story.

A. Nice beginner tutorial about realizing the life of a workaholic, free spirit, kindred spirit, and a trying hard to be a robot
B. The men here doesn't miraculously flock around the women, they actually have the sense to fall for their personalities
C. Possibly makes the location a place filled with parties, I think IT IS
D. Coining the term Dick-sand for a character who loves being the kindred spirit without thinking that she herself might be her own kindred spirit
E. Women who are in-love are total ass holes and douche bags to those who one sided-ly pursues them, which isn't a secret to anyone
F. It's a one step at a time guide to living your life as you pleased it

CONE CLUDE

By far, according to my bias blood, that this movie is the best roller coaster mixed nuts ride that I've watched. Since I'm a sad sap sucker for some fairly well written chick flicks; to me, this movie spells a good letter of recommendations for any person-kind from the Oxford of "a feel good comedy movie worth your try". Not to be completely recommending this movie without warning anyone that there will BE character stereo-tropes and predictable scenarios, cheesy lines maybe, but over all best in representing emotional realism when it comes to recovering from a break up, desiring to break away from being single, and just enjoying your self for being single.

I couldn't go technical for the most part since the entire style of the story is like a book written by a modern yuppie extrapolating her/his experience in the big city by cherry picking scenarios. A typical man-child looking for a new chapter in their life after it has grandly closed behind them. But, all movies are like that, yet so does every media so far.

Might I add that this movie is a perfect flick to recover you from being down, especially when your problem involves life and how un-fucking-fair it has been so far based on your own petty judgement, if you allow yourself to think like so.

This movie has a specific demographic that completely goes under the dramatic radar. The mix of scenarios will surely still pick their cynical ass up due to it's easy to emotionally relate level. Actor casting doesn't go under and their roles were portrayed justifiably. Scenario blending didn't suck as bad as a certain fantasy movie based from a famous cartoon series, and nothing of the flow did not feel off but at least a fitting piece to the larger picture.

All in all this movie is recommended only to a level where you are a simple person looking for a simple feel good movie.

Watch Me: The Romantic and symbolical semantics

Readying myself for a binge of animated movies couldn't have prepared me more to dip myself in sheer mysterium slash satire by the story of The Romantic by Michael Heneghen.

HIT ME

Life seems completely platonic for Romance, a young man who seems to be in distraught by the thoughts that his love for his current girl is fading away. Searching for an answer, he does a ritual to summon a god from their universe to plea a request only to be answered by an advice by the devil.

Eventually a few of the many circumstances begins to fuck up as he follows suit the devils advice. Many of the below happens in no particular grave importance:

A. He kills his cheating lover after unnaturally reviving his love for her through magic
B. Fucks a goddess only to kill her in revenge
C. Unknowingly starts a great depression and war at the expense of his actions
D. Begins to mentally exhaust a god that basically started everything
E. Kills several other mystical figures
F. Answers his own problem by just basically fucking everything up, which should've just been the summary in the shortest manner

CONE CLUDE

What started off as a negligently boring start whafts its tail on ones face and completely wows you to a point where you can't go on, for various mystical reasons. Since my neutral passive mind has been clogged by tons of real life propaganda towards the depression kind, The Romantic, a romance fantasy adventure story, wrings me back and forth into a puddle of inspired and insanely deprived by a word called inspirstion and motivation.

There are select words to artistically describe every facet of the universe this movie belongs in, but the end word you could ultimately use is FUCK. That is correct, the best adjective to poetically describe it is astoundig but the slang would be Fuck. It's been long since I last watched a movie that made me want to go back into creating things, and this movie was a better ticket than my last love affair.

On a sub note on impressions, The Romantic without a doubt is a roller coaster ride of realistic emotions and out right killer horrific fantasy to depict whatever needs to be depicted. You've got impossibly grotesque monsters, from deprived babies turned cannibals to beautiful goddesses that plays more with their desire than value or respect their hearts. Reminds you of something? That's right if you think of the roma-grecian mythological stories. The movie did some good formula in using the usual gods are as fucked up and complicated as normal human beings are, which to religious people I suggest cover their eyes, as most wouldn't appreciate a good satire when they see one.

While we're on the track of the story, any critical mind wouldn't miss out on all the names and their emotional or life like impression and significance in each others back story and present predicament. Each consequence a character did has an equivalent cynical karma, and that karma's symbolism has a great value.

These symbolical value to me plays generally on the part of their names and how their role played. As far as I can go the most that struck me were the value of Romance, the hero, and Patience's, his wise man companion, relationship in the story.

Which to my minds eye plays a real equivalent in life. Patience could easily play with Romance since he could be fully naive and manipulated depending on the situation. Just a single drop of idea and hope makes Romance a great idealist and at the end an ideal story maker. That is about the only symbolism of personal value.

Everything was a poetic end. And you could say my passive aggressive heart completely approves that you watch this, whether you favor the boringly serious or not. Except, the lines in this movie isn't really that boring.

PS. this story is about beginnings and ends, just the poetic kind

Unpopular Opinion 2-oh-something

Listening to Ruth B's "Lost Boys".

Depicting a story about someone finding their way to a figure like Peter Pan and all the Lost Boys, plus the world of Neverland. I refuse to categorize the gender of her main character in the composition, if she was the one who composed the song, should've looked it up. Either way, resounding songs of juvenile and explorative lines rings through the song like a lovely string of quartet kids laughing around posies and in share spreading giggly life into the gardens of the lost eden.

Yet, this song sang differently for me, as all listeners of any modern released singles and budding musicians in the industry. The song will obviously be subjective and even have an obviously selective crowd, probably the ones who will be enticed by the tune like me (evidently not underrated due to the obvious 34M+ views and 432k likes by youtube statistics).

Stories are pretty song in poem format, sometimes I don't get it in one go and makes me want to listen to them multiple instances whenever I felt like. Maybe in lonely times or in occasions when I feel like drowning myself with a new found song and just let the gush of emotions run through. Like Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons", but this song didn't just ring me up something romanticized.

Through my minds television, I saw my characters from Tamtam, the story playing forthrightly like it never left me. Scenarios string between broken verses that originally did not fit each other. One scene was something from an arch of the story yet to be written, while one connected to the unwritten in the currently written one, maybe will be the consequence of their actions in the future. Like a prediction to what should, but soon it would fade and another scenario would fill it's gap as the song continues to flow.

Until the end, and when I play repeat again, there it is Tamtam, running in my minds TV like a never ending movie.

I've always loved it when my mind feels fueled by music, as if an auto-MV would suddenly direct itself without any supervision from me but the subconscious imagination I've previously done, either repeating or being revised. This kind of thing happens to me tons of times in my younger days. But when I got into the world of "being too tired to even bother for this shit" (work life, normal employee life), I've begun to loose the energy to write or even draw.

That moment of my life was the saddest I've been, besides my indulging to my jealousy, that's a completely different story right there.

There isn't much of an unpopular opinion here, just, that I've forgotten to mention. That if I'd give a gender to the character in the song, I would stick to the original characters from the book the song and the origin of the term "Lost Boys". Wendy, maybe, or just a random girl trying to find her way into a lonely world. A lonely world she just probably couldn't form into a less lonely one due to the lack of motivation. Quote-and-quote.

Sort of completely indulging it like a romantic song, or a coming of age song for the girl. Where she finds someone like a Peter Pan, dragging her away from the lonesome reality and covered her in the magic Peter always brought with him in his pocket, or Tinker Bell even though she wasn't even mentioned in the song. Rude now that I thought of it. (at least it was mentioned as pixie dust)

Think like that, comparing the girl and finding her self in the story, as if all she needed was companionship all along. But, what if it came the time that she realized she couldn't be with her Peter Pan anymore. Like Wendy.

I may dub this an unpopular opinion, but I guess it's an unpopular opinion only to me, you see. There might be just a time right now, currently in my life, that I've just realized that I have woken up from a sort of Neverland. That soon I feel like Wendy leaving Peter Pan and onto a reality. Just a feeling.

There isn't much, just, the change feels painful. I've begun to slowly loose the patience and ability to easily accept things. Mayhaps it's a great change that it feels difficult compared to the other changes in my life. Still, it feels painful, but good just like the song.

Pretending to be Inimitable

I used to have a story where the mother of the heroine, heroine named Rui, and her mother was the governess of realms. Like a queen, who used to have a husband but she soon let him go because of political reasons. The man was driven out by her and the council, and soon married a woman who was simple and needed him as well.

I remembered how I always felt that Rui's mother always looked sad but satisfied, knowing that she once loved the man she knew she would always be loyal to but her life and everyone around her prevented them from being together. Sort of like, she became workaholic, and somehow he didn't see it. He believed they could be together, but she knew there we're lesser chances of them being together, and to spare them the pain of it she decided to cut off her ties with him.

Left to her was their daughter, who understood how her mother loved him. The story had them as side characters, but somehow, that's how I wrote her. And that character was almost based to be mine, the mother, the queen.

What a foreboding thing to write about. How selfless but selfish the mother was to the pain, that soon even Rui her child would be solemn but optimistic. Rui was the reason why the met again, not because Rui wanted them to be together again in the flow of the story. The child was intended to save their realm from a certain danger, and it so happened that she needed her father and mothers help to do it.

They helped her of course, but their reunion was only a short time as both of them now has their own lives to live. He to his new family and she to her thrown that she must bravely and strongly govern.

I never knew how painful it felt when I wrote / imagined it, actually, I do. Just that, right now, I feel so sad. Especially for Rui who I sincerely feel her secret want for her parents to be together, but she had learned to accept both their families because she knew she couldn't force them into what she wants.

There's a certain finality with the way I wrote her mothers story. Rui's mother and her father were main characters to a previous story of mine. They we're lead characters in it, the father was the guardian of Rui's mother then, they ended up falling in love with each other. Silently vowing their support to each other like a pendulum of flowing fate.

But circumstances broke them apart, plus the desire for each one to fulfill something they couldn't fill for each other. That in the end, somehow they broke apart. Farther away from the pain.

Rui's mother is a selfish martyr who smiles proudly as she see's the man she once loved happy. While the man, who looked on smiling thinking she was good and well. Not knowing truthfully to each other that somehow they still love each other. Rui knew, but couldn't just ruin the lives they've built.

Definitive and painful. That's how I imagined my characters ending would be. By their subjugation into a circumstance that broke them, I gave a certain goal an opportunity to grow, however tragic, horrific or selfless this goal made them end up to be. Such willies of mine are completely painful. Right now my tears won't stop shedding for them, for those in similar state.

For children who hoped their parents would be together again, yet couldn't. To people who knew the truth of their friends reality, but couldn't help but watch as they unfold a painful disaster happen. All the helpless romantic emotional struggle of the third party who wants to say they shouldn't give up, they must have hope. Don't let that heart weaken. Strive to hold on.

Find a way to hold on. There is still hope. You know there is. Or should you tragically die a heroine or hero, who thinks they're doing the selfless thing when no martyr who died did not think once of regret for their efforts. That even saints surely in their time of death told God of how regretful they may die young, but grateful they will go back to his arms.

Find a way to hold on. And maybe there might be something to save from it. Hoping.

Also, hoping that the thing I wrote got conveyed pretty well even if it was written cryptically.
